Proyecto Global Scholars

Global Scholars conecta ciudades de todo el mundo a través de una red educativa de intercambio de información. Creen que podemos cambiar la forma en que cada niño puede ser un ciudadano que piensa globalmente y actúa localmente.
Durante 2018 y 2019, los estudiantes de 5º y  ahora 6º grado junto a su profesora María Clara Seilhan se conectaron a través de ésta plataforma con chicos de todo el mundo, intercambiando ideas a través de posteos de debate y proyectos digitales. Estudiaron problemas que afectan a todos, como el transporte, el agua o los problemas ambientales.
Los niños se presentaron a los demás países, mostraron su escuela y su país. Completaron una auditoría de agua e identificaron formas en que la escuela puede conservar el agua de manera más efectiva, estudiaron el cambio climático investigando y analizando noticias y artículos. En el proyecto digital, los estudiantes realizaron una encuesta a las personas de su ciudad para identificar sus necesidades y analizaron las acciones para combatir la contaminación y el cambio climático. Y finalmente hicieron un Proyecto de Acción Comunitaria que resume todos los temas estudiados.
Fue un viaje largo, pero los niños aprendieron sobre cultura, códigos de comunicación, preguntar y responder de manera educada y, en su mayoría, fue absolutamente motivador intercambiar sus ideas con compañeros internacionales. Éstos videos y Sway te muestran todo el proceso….

Global Scholars connects cities worldwide through an education and information sharing network. They believe that we can change the way each child can be a citizen who thinks globally and acts locally.
During 2018 and 2019 students from 5th and now 6th grade and the English Teacher María Clara Seilhan connected through a platform with peers all around the world, exchanging ideas through discussion post and digital projects. They studied issues that affect everyone, like transportation, water, or environment problems.
Children introduced themselves, their school and country. They completed a water audit, and identified ways that the school can more effectively conserve water, studied climate change by researching and analyzing news and articles. In the digital project, students took a survey to people in their city to identify their needs and brainstormed on actions to combat pollution and climate change. And finally they made a Community Action Project summarizing all the topics studied.
It was a long trip, but children learnt about culture, communication codes, asking and answering politely and mostly it was absolutely highly motivating exchanging their ideas with international peers. These videos and sway show you all the process….

Skype connection Norway

Skype connection with pupils from a Norwegian school (May and June 2019)

It all started when children from a Norwegian school sent the children in our school some letters  about their lives in Norway. Then the 7th and 6^th form pupils in our school wrote back to these children in Norway and, in this way, the contact was established.

Then two video calls were made through Skype between the two schools. The teachers in charge were Stine (Norwegian teacher), María Clara, and Silvana. They video calls were very early in the morning as there is a difference of 5 hours between the two schools (8:20 a.m. local time, 1:00 p.m. Norwegian time).

The children asked each other questions about their everyday life, school, holidays, typical foods, sports during the first call. When the second Skype connection took place, the Norwegian children were able to be part of the assembly at 8:15 while the Argentine flag was hoisted. Then the Norwegian children showed the project on water they had done and our children showed them a PowerPoint with the best sights in Buenos Aires, apart from other topics that were discussed.

It was enriching and highly motivating to communicate in English  with these “new friends” and learn about their culture and. A unforgettable experience for everyone involved!

Todo comenzó cuando los alumnos de una escuela en Noruega guiados por su maestra Stine, escribieron cartas a los alumnos de nuestra escuela. Los alumnos de 6to y 7mo les respondieron y así la relación comenzó.

Luego se organizaron dos video conferencias a través de Skype que fueron supervisadas por María Clara y Silvana. Las teleconferencias comenzaron temprano a la mañana ya que hay una diferencia horaria de 5 horas con Noruega (8:00 a.m. hora local, 1:00 p.m hora de Noruega)

Los alumnos de ambas escuelas se comunicaron en inglés realizando preguntas y hablando sobre distintos temas como la vida cotidiana, deportes favoritos, vacaciones, entre otros. En la segunda conferencia, los alumnos de Noruega pudieron presenciar el saludo a la bandera que realizamos todos los días y nos mostraron su proyecto sobre el agua.

¡Fue enriquecedor y motivador poder comunicarse con estos “nuevos amigos” a través del idioma inglés! ¡Una experiencia inolvidable para todos!
